Research
· to initiate, conduct and support gender focused research aimed at informing and updating civil society, the public and the policy makers
· to generate knowledge bases and promote dissemination of knowledge on gender.
· to take up policy and budget analysis from a gendered perspective.
· to disseminate the findings of cutting edge gender research and knowledge on tools of gender advocacy; our research will be informed by CEDAW and the Beijing Platform for Action.
· to build up a gender focused documentation and knowledge exchange center that will serve as a useful reference institution, allowing for the exchange of ideas between researchers, other organizations, individuals and students.
Legal research and advocacy
· to undertake and support legal research that will use gender as an analytical and epistemological framework.
· to take up advocacy and lobby with the government at all levels for furthering the empowerment of women and other disadvantaged groups.
· to stimulate peoples’ involvement in social issues and organize community action to engender social, economic, and educational structures
· to undertake and participate in programmes for integrating gender concerns in the sectors of health, education and employment
Grassroots intervention
· to capacitate women and men at the grassroot levels in the skills of carrying out gender analysis, action research and policy analysis.
Workshops / seminars
· to organize workshops that will serve as a forum for the exchange of experiential knowledge and expertise, and allow for the dissemination of research findings on a spectrum of issues related to gender and development.
· to promote effective institutional gender mainstreaming, gender and peace building and conflict resolution; this will be made possible by facilitating gender training for the public/ private sector and civil society.
· to bring out gender and peace education modules for schools and higher education institutions as well as for other organizations.
· to provide consultancy to other organizations for integrating gender into their programme designs, and also be involved in gender impact monitoring and evaluations.
· to conduct and or/participate in seminars, study circles, camps, field trips, lectures, conferences, statistical/ economical/ sociological surveys, research and training programmes, audio-visual and mass media services, exhibitions etc. in accordance with and in furtherance of the objectives of the trust.
Publications
· to bring out regular publications and tool kits/ manuals/ newsletters on a wide range of gender issues.
· to advance and diffuse information on educational matters -- formal and informal -- and on issues of development. Keeping that objective in mind, we hope to obtain subsidies that will allow us to collect, document, publish and circulate bulletins/ pamphlets, papers, periodicals and books on education, development, and other related subjects.
Networking
· to seek the collaboration and cooperation of other voluntary and government and non-government agencies for development activities and programmes, including relief and reconstruction programmes. We specially address gender concerns in areas affected by natural calamities and other emergencies, and wherever possible, collaborate and work with such agencies.
